Meet Chris Folmar

Head Instructor at American Defensive Arts Academy Keller

Meet Christopher Folmar, a martial arts enthusiast who has been spreading his love for the art in Keller, Texas for over 20 years. His journey began at the tender age of seven when he started training in Hawaiian Jiu-Jitsu. From there, he saw an opportunity to create a unique fusion of practical self-defense, fitness, and traditional martial arts within a supportive community in Keller.

Christopher's Certifications & Achievements:

  • American Karate –  Seventh-degree Black Belt (Grandmaster J. Pat Burleson & Iain Abernethy Sensei, World Combat Association)
  • Aikido – First-degree Black Belt  (Sensei Bill Sosa)
  • Tae Kwon Do – Second-degree Black Belt (Grandmaster Seung Dong)
  • Hapkido – First-degree Black Belt (Grandmaster S. Yang)
  • Cane-Jitsu – Black Belt (Grandmaster Mark Shuey)

Christopher's teaching philosophy revolves around laughter and camaraderie, emphasizing the importance of personal connections and positive reinforcement in this digital age where human connections often fall by the wayside.

Joining forces with The Keller Pointe, Christopher provides a convenient training location for members and non-members alike. The studio's prime location caters to residents from neighboring areas such as Southlake, North Ft. Worth/Alliance, and the Mid-Cities region. Parents can also enjoy the facility's amenities while their children train.

When he's not busy teaching martial arts, Christopher delves into technology development programs, helping small and mid-sized businesses navigate the digital market landscape.

Together with his wife Robyn, Christopher has called Keller home for over two decades. Their unwavering dedication to the community shines through their support for the renowned Keller High School band program, where they can be found cheering on weekends (Go Big Blue!).
